PERMANENT CURE FOR DIABETES – SECRET YOU NEED TO KNOW

Can Diabetes be cured permanently? Is diabetes type 1 Curable? Can you recover from early Diabetes? Is the diabetes reversal program actual?

In my clinical practice, these are the question I get from Newly diagnosed diabetes patients and old patients who have heard about some “MAGIC CURE” on the internet or in a YouTube video, or from Whats App Forwarded messages.

THE ANSWER IS “YES” (to some extent) AND ALSO “NO.”

Please read the below article, where I will talk about the facts, misconceptions, and diabetes reversal (Cure) program and how anyone can do it with determination.

Introduction

As I explain all my patients in simple language,

Our body runs on a fuel called “Sugar.” This sugar is produced by everything we eat (not only sugar) – anything we put in our bodies. IF YOU ARE STILL THINKING – YES, it may be bread, roti, naan, salad, millet, potato, pulses, legumes, milk, etc. But the amount of sugar produced is different from what we eat. We term it “The Glycemic Index” of the food product.

It is similar to a car or bike that runs on petrol, diesel, kerosene, or rocket fuel. The energy generated in an engine is different according to the power used.

So, Diabetes is a medical condition where a person has high levels of sugar in their blood, and their body is unable to use it to give energy to the body(glucose) in their blood. This happens when the body can’t produce and use insulin properly or too much insulin is produced (Insulin Resistance) due to poor dietary habits.

There are two main types of Diabetes:

Type 1 diabetes:-

It occurs when the body doesn’t produce insulin, usually due to an autoimmune disorder or Birth defect(if we can phrase it like that). People with Type 1 diabetes need to take insulin injections or use an insulin pump to manage their blood sugar levels.

Type 2 diabetes:-

It occurs when the body doesn’t use insulin properly (Insulin Resistance) or produces excessive insulin. Diabetes is often associated with lifestyle factors such as being overweight, having a poor diet, and not getting enough exercise. Type 2 diabetes can often be managed (or CURED) with lifestyle changes, medication, or a combination.

Both types of Diabetes can lead to serious health complications if left untreated or poorly managed, so treating them is important.

Can Diabetes be cured permanently?

At present, there is no known permanent cure for Diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic medical condition that affects the body’s ability to regulate blood sugar levels, and it requires lifelong management to prevent complications. However, with appropriate treatment and management, individuals with Diabetes can lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

What do you mean by no permanent cure?

It means that if you follow certain diets, you can reverse your Diabetes or cure it temporarily. This means you must follow a diet that includes products with a very low glycemic index.

The primary goals of diabetes management are to control blood sugar levels, prevent complications, and improve overall health. This typically involves lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, healthy eating, and weight management.

In the last decade, so many things have been happening in diabetes management which was not there, and diabetes treatment has changed drastically with new data coming up.

While there is ongoing research into potential cures for Diabetes, no cure has been identified yet.

Is Diabetes curable at the early stage?

If you are diagnosed with prediabetic conditions with the borderline elevation of HbA1C, Fatty liver grade 1 or 2, obesity, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, PCOS, and Insulin resistance, then it’s an early stage.

Then you can manage and cure this condition through certain lifestyle changes which can cure these condition. I am talking about lifestyle changes because it should not be only the diet you follow to cure them, and you can go back to your habits. It should be lifestyle changes which it for whole your life. And if you return to your old ways of living, it all will return with a bang.

But if you are already diagnosed to have type 2 diabetes, then the damage is already done. You need more strict rules to follow.

 Is diabetes type 1 Curable?

Currently, there is no known cure for type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that results in the destruction of the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Without insulin, the body cannot properly regulate blood sugar levels.

Type 1 diabetes can be managed with insulin therapy, which involves injecting insulin into the body to replace the insulin that the pancreas no longer produces. Use of insulin pump is very easy to use for young people.

An insulin Pump is a device that acts as the artificial pancreas, and some devices are even so advanced that they can sense your sugar levels automatically and release the insulin as per the requirements set by your diabetologist.

Blood sugar levels must be monitored regularly, and individuals with type 1 diabetes must make lifestyle adjustments such as healthy eating, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

There is ongoing research into potential cures for type 1 diabetes, including islet cell transplantation and stem cell therapy. However, these treatments are highly experimental and are not widely available. A few anecdotal pieces of evidence are there where they do stem cells and combine them with Hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

While type 1 diabetes cannot currently be cured, and it is very difficult to treat.

 Is type 2 diabetes bad?

Yes, type 2 diabetes is considered a serious health condition that can have significant long-term health consequences if left unmanaged. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease that affects the way your body processes blood sugar (glucose), which is your body’s primary source of energy.

If not properly managed, type 2 diabetes can lead to a range of health problems which can be listed from head to toe:-

  • Nerve damage: High blood sugar levels over time can damage nerves, leading to neuropathy and other nerve-related complications.
  • Cerebrovascular Attack or stroke
  • Eye damage: High blood sugar levels can cause damage to the blood vessels in the eyes, leading to vision problems or even blindness.
  • Cardiovascular disease: People with type 2 diabetes are at increased risk of developing heart disease, stroke, and other vascular problems.
  • Kidney damage: Diabetes can also damage the kidneys over time, leading to kidney disease or even kidney failure.
  • Neuropathy – Nerve damage to lower limbs with symptoms like burning feet etc.
  • Angiopathy – Circulatory issues & compromised microcirculation of both lower limbs

However, all these complications don’t occur in a day, it happens over the years, so we call them long-term complications.

What are the diagnostic tests and normal values, and what do they mean?

The diagnostic test for Diabetes is a blood test that measures your blood glucose levels. There are a few different tests that can be used to diagnose Diabetes:

  1. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) test: This test measures your blood sugar after you have fasted for at least 8 hours. A normal FPG result is less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L).
  2. Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT): This test measures your blood sugar after you have fasted for at least 8 hours and then again two hours after you drink a sugary drink. A normal OGTT result is less than 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L).
  3. Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test: This test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. A normal HbA1c result is less than 5.7%.
  4. C-peptide: – It is a short peptide molecule that is produced in the body during the process of insulin production. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels by helping cells in the body absorb glucose. When the pancreas produces insulin, it also produces C-peptide as a byproduct.
  5. Fasting insulin levels are measured after a period of fasting, usually overnight, and are used to assess baseline insulin levels in the body. A fasting insulin level of less than 25 µIU/mL is considered normal, while a level above 25 µIU/mL may indicate insulin resistance, which is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes.
  6. Postprandial insulin levels are measured after a meal and are used to assess the body’s response to food. After a meal, blood sugar levels rise, which triggers the release of insulin to help transport glucose from the bloodstream into the body’s cells. A postprandial insulin level of less than 50 µIU/mL is considered normal, while a level above 50 µIU/mL may indicate insulin resistance or impaired glucose tolerance.

If your test results show that you have Diabetes, immediately contact your doctor. Do not Self medicate.

It’s important to note that normal values may vary slightly depending on the lab that performs the test and the specific measurement units used.

 Can Diabetes be reversed?

Actually, It’s not, however, a new concept; we all know that Diabetes is a progressive disease. This means if you don’t control your sugars properly, you will move from the stage of normal glucose tolerance or pre-diabetes to Diabetes & then finally, the stage of complications we discussed above.

 What Reversal of Diabetes Means

It means it is going from having Diabetes to NO diabetes at all. You can revert to pre Diabetes, and even you can go to normal glucose tolerance (OGTT result is less than 140 mg/dL ) or a normal blood sugar level throughout the day (RBS less than 140 mg/dL) by many other tests or any test you do or fasting sugar or glucose HBA1c everything becomes normal. LIKE MAGIC !!

However, reversal of Diabetes is possible for everyone?

Remember, when we said that the stage of complications, i.e., suppose your kidney is already affected (Diabetic Nephropathy ), your eye is affected(Retinopathy), your heart is affected (Hypertension and Coronary artery disease), nerves are affected (Neuropathy), feet are affected, So can you reverse Diabetes if you have already these complications?

Obviously not; it’s too late for you; I should start much earlier. But, if you are in the stage of clinical Diabetes or pre-diabetes, it is possible to reverse your Diabetes.

FIRST of all, almost always, this reversal of Diabetes is associated with weight loss, so you need to lose about 15 kilograms in weight if you want to revert your Diabetes or go into remission.

Now, these 15 kilograms were over 2-3 months, but the point is – you have to keep your weight down to that below 15 kg; after you lose 15 kg, you have to maintain. And if you gain back 10 kgs.

Your diabetes will come back!” So that’s where the catch is.

Many people talk about reversal, not knowing what they are talking about. I have seen people go on social media and post the before-after picture. This is how I was and now how I am.

How were they after another six months or one year? Have you ever asked them? They will never tell you that. Buy time, they regain the weight and keep quiet, now no social media and all, and they will keep quiet because people should not know the weight they put back. It is what happens invariably.

There are very, very few motivated people who not only bring their weight down but can maintain it like that. Such people have a prolonged period of remission.

What is remission of Diabetes?

It means that you should be in a non-diabetic stage regarding your blood glucose level and HBA1C. So, HbA1C is below 5.6%, FBS ( fasting sugar) is below 100, and 2-hour value Glucose tolerance (OGTT) is below 140 without any medications; that’s what we call remission.

The word reversal can understand in another context. Suppose you require insulin to control your Diabetes, and now you are gone into a non-insulin-requiring state, partly reversed, and it is also the reversal

When you stop all your tablets, you have achieved complete remission or a complete reversal

“So it is possible, but in my experience, I have seen that the shorter the duration of Diabetes, the easier it is to reverse. That means, for those who are in Diabetes for less than ten years, reversal is possible; as you go beyond 15, 20, or 25 years what happens is your pancreatic beta cell function goes down so low, then reversal may be very difficult.”

Second remember that when you talk about reversal, we are always talking about type 2 Diabetes and not about other types of Diabetes, certainly not type 1 diabetes.

Now people who don’t know this, non-physicians or big Self-taught youtube influencers, start this big hype about the reversal of Diabetes, and they even promised children with type1 Diabetes – it also can be reversed.

I never saw a child with type 1 diabetes completely reversing back into normal and becoming completely normal.”

Of course, miracles can always happen, and God can do anything, but I am talking about a normal physician’s experience as almost impossible. It is so rare, i.e., 1 in 100 million. Even cancer can go into remission.

We should not talk about that miracle, and we should talk about the common type 1 patient. No reversal is possible in type 1 patients. They have to continue their insulin throughout their life. There should be no doubt about it.

Thirdly if you have already developed complications of Diabetes, then how are you going to reverse it? It is very difficult. As we want to reverse our Diabetes to escape from these complications, and once it’s there, we can not reverse complications. You can have normal sugars and Normal HbA1C without medication. You can certainly prevent further damage.

Fourth – there are other types of Diabetes, fibro-calculus pancreatic Diabetes; there is a stone inside the pancreas, so you can’t reverse it, and certain other forms of Diabetes are also there, which you cannot reverse at all.

So, remember, if you type 2 diabetes or are in the stage of pre-diabetes & very early stage, you should try.

Why don’t you attempt reversal?

Why don’t you attempt to go into a stage of remission? It is eminently possible, but it needs a lot of willpower.

You have to cut down your calories calorie content and probably have to cut down 800 calories per day.

So, if you lose about 15kgs in the process, the amount of fat in your liver will almost disappear. There is some amount of fat in your pancreas, so even 2 grams of fat in the pancreas is enough to produce Diabetes. Once these 2 grams are removed, then by weight loss of about 15-20 kilograms, you will find that your reversal occurs.

Bariatric Surgery

There is one more way that reversal occurs bariatric surgery. Bariatric surgery is perhaps more permanent than these diets because it has to be given up after some time a low-calorie or very low-carbohydrate diet.

With these kinds of diets, people may get fed up after some time. They start eating everything, and then they reverse back.

But in the case of bariatric surgery, once the stomach has been cut, once the intestine has been cut(there are different types of bariatric surgery), of course, through these procedures, usually it is permanent. The weight loss is much more, not just 15-20 kilograms you lose. So, If you have excess weight, you can lose 30-40-50 kilograms or even more.

But can we do bariatric surgery for everybody? Mmmm!! It has its own risk; above 1% of people die out of 100, or 1 in 200 people die after bariatric surgery. So this is not something without mobility and mortality.

Those who do well. In the case of diet, the risk of dying is much lesser; of course, we must be very much careful 600-800 calorie diet. If you are doing it unsupervised, it can also lead to death. So we must be very careful, and it should be done only under medical supervision. Let your doctor tell you what to do, or a highly qualified dietician, with the help of a physician, also standing by. Only then should you attempt it.

Main mantra

I will give you a simple mantra for whatever diet you are trying to do for reversal; you need to have a ten-year plan.

Suppose your plan is for ten years. For the next ten years, I will maintain it; go ahead. And if you’re plan is for three months, let me try it and see what happens; otherwise, I will go back, don’t do it

Because your body will get confused, your immunity will go down; suddenly, your weight is increasing. Again your weight is going down; now you are in a yo-yo effect; this will completely upset your metabolism your body. This will completely ruin your immunity, leading to more complications.

People will develop heart attacks because they may develop micronutrient deficiency. You may have a deficiency of essential amino acids and other things. Therefore, while your weight may come down, your sugar may become normal, but you may get a heart attack and die. Similarly, you will take a very low carbohydrate diet, and your fat content goes to 80%, so you may get a heart attack and die.

Due to this, these things are not without danger.

We will be very happy to help you to try to reverse your Diabetes; For people who don’t want to use medicines, it is possibly a little hard for you, but you have to be very persistent. You may achieve a complete reversal of your Diabetes; if you want more information, please contact us, and we will be happy to help you reverse your Diabetes.
